Why do we need a Diversity Toolkit for Investors?

Thursday, February 24th 2022 │ 9.30am – 10.45am │ Zoom Webinar

New Financial is launching the first in their five-paper research series to build a Diversity Toolkit for Investors, in collaboration with the 30% Club and sponsored by London Stock Exchange Group and Columbia Threadneedle Investments.

This online event will focus on why a succinct and practical toolkit of questions is necessary to improve engagement between asset managers and the companies in which they invest, in order to drive sustainable change in workforce diversity and inclusion.

Investors and regulators want to see more consistent qualitative and quantitative information about diversity progress, while corporate diversity reporting teams are using diversity activity and reporting to engage with more than just the traditional readers of annual reports. As the appetite for diversity data grows, is more diversity reporting leading to meaningful decisions from investors and better outcomes for investee companies? Or are thinly-spread corporate diversity reporting teams spending more time managing inconsistent demands for data than making headway on complex diversity issues, while investors aren’t actually focusing on the material diversity questions or putting their money where their mouths are?

Attendees will include asset managers, ESG and SRI specialists, data providers and from the corporate side investor relations professionals, D&I leads as well as HR and data analytics and anyone with responsibility for or an interest in D&I. As this is a virtual event, multiple attendees from one firm are welcome, so please take this opportunity to engage more of your colleagues with the discussion.

Speakers include:

  • Iain Richards, Head of Global Responsible Investment Policy, Columbia Threadneedle Investments
  • Birgit Neu, former global head of D&I at HSBC and co-author of the research paper series
  • Yasmine Chinwala, Partner at New Financial
